Awareness of the fight against unnecessary plastics raised among Audencia’s teams

To celebrate 10 years of our partnership with WWF France, we jointly developed a digital week, aimed at our iternal stakeholders, focused on fighting against unnecessary plastics.

While the fight against single use plastics was launched several years ago, the health crisis that we are experiencing is favouring their return in considerable volume… As a responsible player, Audencia has decided to act with the NGO to limit the impact of plastic on the ecology and health!

As part of this objective, we commenced the digital week by inviting our stakeholders to view the web series “Our Planet” produced by the WWF. This was followed by an on-line debate on “the impact of non-sustainable fishing on the marine environment” chaired by Rita Sahyoun, Sustainable Fishing Programme Officer for WWF France. Rita gave a presentation to the teams and students entitled “the impact of pollution on fishing and our fishery resources”.

Following this inspiring awareness-raising session, we relaunched our “Beautiful place to work challenge” enabling Audencia’s teams to propose social or environmental projects. The winners of the challenge received assistance with implementing a project and defining the budget required to carry it out, providing them with concrete means of affecting change!

With the aim of underpinning the subject, we were also able to share inspiring content and good practices on the theme of fighting against plastics.

The week was concluded with a contribution from Juliette Kacprzak, head of the plastics campaign at WWF France, who provided our internal stakeholders with the keys for becoming citizens who are veritably committed to Nature!

Well-being @Audencia: a service for the students

In order to provide the best support to our students in the current context and indeed throughout their education, at Audencia we set up a cross-departmental service called Well-Being@Audencia.

Well-Being@Audencia is a dynamic individual approach, including the possibility of making an appointment with a nurse. A variety of subjects can be addressed: physical, psychic and sexual health, loss of motivation, diet, sleep, etc. There is also the possibility of anonymously contacting a French-speaking, English-speaking or Chinese-speaking psychologist, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, via a platform set up by one of Audencia’s partners.

With the aim of providing the best circulation for this information to our students, we set up the BeeWell team 🐝 on Teams.

Bee Well 🐝 provides the opportunity to discuss everyday subjects, gather information, ask questions of yourself and reflect collectively on issues of day-to-day health and well-being.

Bee Well 🐝 is organised into 4 channels:

  • Good2know for sharing news, useful information and collaborative tools.
  • The Health & Well-being newsletter 💌, to highlight healthy, economical and pleasurable recipes, but also to gain hints and tips on looking after yourself every day.
  • Well-Being Workshops . These remote workshops deal with a variety of subjects from everyday life.
  • ZA CSR Channel ♻️. Newsletters, information on news, events and good practices linked to the stakes of CSR.

Hives on the roof of the Mediacampus

In June 2019, for the “Biotiful Place to Work” challenge, Mediacampus Manager Estelle Prusker and Frank Dormont, the Director of Communication and Institutional Relations at Audencia, dreamed up and promoted the project “a roof for the bees”. This wonderful idea came into being in 2020!

Placing hives on Audencia’s roofs helps to safeguard the population of bees in our region, as well as strengthening our support for local and sustainable craft beekeeping.

As our beekeeper Antoine Rémi-Zéphyr points out, “Bees are an essential part of biodiversity and the food chain. By helping to preserve them and getting involved, you contribute to protecting your environment!”

Throughout the year, his company Les Ruches d’Antoine has proposed beekeeping discovery workshops to the teams at Audencia. This fun activity helps to raise awareness of the stakes of biodiversity.

To involve the students in this project, we tasked them with designing the visuals to be used on our pots of honey. A student team from Audencia SciencesCom won this challenge, with the prize of a visit to the hives.

Potting of the honey was performed in October 2020 and it was put on sale on our on-line store to ensure the durability of this great project! Part of the production also allowed us to eliminate goodies that were not environmentally friendly in favour of 100% responsible and local pots of honey.

Objective for 2021

Making Audencia a leader in carbon neutrality

As part of Audencia’s strategic plan, the employees from several of the school’s divisions proposed an ambitious action concerning carbon neutrality. The European Union has set itself the objective of reducing CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030 and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve this, all businesses and organisations must transform their business model, strategy, offerings and managerial practices. Business schools have a particularly important role to play to boost and assist these transformations, by teaming up with academic institutions in other disciplines, companies, local authorities and players in civil society. The objective for Audencia is to draw on its experience in CSR and skills hybridisation to unite these players, develop the skills required for such transformations, produce and publish research in this domain and create operational solutions for businesses and other organisations. In tandem, the school will work on its own transformation to also achieve carbon neutrality before 2050.
